Rusty Wallace Newest Entrant in the Watkins Glen Drivers Walk of Fame

Rusty Wallace will be inducted into the Watkins Glen Drivers Walk of Fame, a project of the International Motor Racing Research Center. Wallace is expected to attend the ceremony. When he retired at the end of the 2005 season, Wallace had a career that included 55 NASCAR championship event victories, the 1989 NASCAR Winston Cup championship, the 1991 IROC Championship and the 1983 American Speed Association Championship. He was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in February 2013. On Tuesday, Aug. 5, he is to
be inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America. Wallace is a member of the Racing Research Center’s Drivers Council. In August 2010, the Center was given the Penske Racing “Rusty’s Last Call” Dodge Charger, painted and decaled to celebrate Wallace’s final year in competition. The car will be on display at the Walk of Fame ceremony.

The Drivers Walk of Fame, located in the sidewalks of Watkins Glen, honors the men and women who have competed in Watkins Glen events since the first race in 1948. Walk of Fame entrants are sponsored by local businesses and individuals. More than 100 markers have been placed since 1993, when Cameron R. Argetsinger, racing founder, was the first Walk of Fame entrant. His marker is at the original start-finish line in front of the Schuyler County Courthouse.

    WHEN: Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, 4:30 PM

WHERE: The Rusty Wallace marker in the Drivers Walk of Fame is located in the sidewalk front of Unique Country Boutique, 212 N. Franklin St., Watkins Glen. Parking is available in the Third Street Parking Lot, which is behind Unique Country Boutique.
