Located in the heart of the beautiful Finger Lakes region, Watkins Glen is known as the birthplace for road racing and Formula 1 in America. The International Motor Racing Research Center collection’s document the history of a variety of motor racing series from around the world from the earliest races to present day. If you’re interested in joining our small staff of passionate motorheads and archival professionals, the IMRRC currently has the following opportunity:
Library Stack Manager
The Center seeks a library stack manager to assist with a project to organize and shift the reference collection consisting of 5000 volumes. The stack manager will also assume responsibility for routine reshelving duties. The Center’s collection is non-circulating and entirely focused on motorsports. It adheres to an eccentric, non-standard shelving system. The project totals 160 hours of work at $17.50 per hour on a contract basis. Hours flexible, with weekend and evening hours available if preferred. Project may be full-time until complete or spaced out at regular intervals until the end of the year (2022).
Applicants must have experience with library collections and shelving conventions; a facility using online catalogs and shelf lists; and the ability to handle fragile and rare materials. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently are essential. An interest in or knowledge of motor racing is helpful.
Applicants may apply by sending a letter of interest, resumé and a list of three professional references to Head Archivist Jenny Ambrose by email.
