The Racing Research Center’s annual appeal provides several different levels at which financial support can be given.
A motorsports VIP is invited to serve as the campaign chairman each year. Past chairmen include Mario Andretti, Phil Hill, Sir Stirling Moss, Dan Gurney, Sam Posey, Denise McCluggage and, in 2016, Butch Leitzinger.
Racer, author and inspiration Lyn St. James is leading the 2017 campaign. We’re honored and proud that St. James also is a member of the Center’s Drivers Council.
St. James drove to many victories in her racing career, including two 24 Hours of Daytona class wins and one class victory in the 12 Hours of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Nürburgring. She is the only woman to win an IMSA GT race driving solo, which was for the 1985 Serengeti 500 at Watkins Glen International. She has received many honors, including Sports Illustrated Top 100 Women Athletes of the Century and the 2010 Automotive News Top 100 Women in the Automotive Industry. She is a member of the Florida Sports Hall of Fame.
