San Francisco Friend Wins Tickets to the 2017 Indianapolis 500
UPDATE, May 6: The winner of the three Indianapolis 500 tickets donated to the Center for a fundraiser was Christopher Locke of San Francisco. We thank everyone who participated and congratulate Chris! And we are especially grateful to the Rev. Michael and Susan Hartney of Watkins Glen for donating the tickets.
The International Motor Racing Research Center has been given three tickets to the 2017 Indianapolis 500 to raffle as a bundle to raise operating funds.
The gift from the Rev. Michael and Susan Hartney of Watkins Glen was made in memory of Michael H. “Jack” Hartney, an Indy 500 fan who attended the 1948 race, returning for more than 50 consecutive years beginning in 1960. Jack died in December 2014.
The Indianapolis 500 tickets are for Grandstand C, Section 6, located opposite the entrance to the pits and north pit stalls. The seats are completely covered. Each ticket also includes garage area admission on Race Day, Sunday, May 28, after the race. Get all the details for the 101st running of this iconic race here.
The price per chance for the three-ticket package offered by the Racing Research Center is just $30. Only 500 chances will be sold.
The winning raffle ticket will be drawn at the Center on Saturday, May 6, at 1 p.m., allowing the winner time to make travel arrangements. Tickets may be purchased until 12:30 p.m. on May 6.
The drawing precedes a Center Conversations talk, “The Exciting Life of John C. Fitch,” by Fitch historian Larry Berman and Fitch friend Bob Sirna. The talk will be at 1 p.m. and is open to all. The talk will be live-streamed at www.youtube.com/user/IMRRC/live.
To purchase raffle tickets, stop by the Center or call (607) 535-9044. Interested buyers may also send a check to IMRRC, 610 S. Decatur St., Watkins Glen, N.Y. 14891. The winner is responsible for paying necessary taxes prior to receipt of the tickets.
