2010 Raffle

A “427”COBRA REPLICA IS IMRRC’S 2010 RAFFLE CAR

For 2010 The International Motor Racing Research Center is once again offering a Cobra replica as its annual raffle car. This year’s car is powered by an original Ford “427FE” engine with two four barrel Carter carburetors , has a Ford “T&C 10 bolt” 4 speed manual transmission and Ford 9” posi-traction differential with a 3.73 final drive. The car is finished in a brilliant Viper Blue paint with dual white racing stripes, is equipped with dual, four point, competition style seat belts and shoulder harnesses, 16” Halibrand racing style alloy wheels with 235/60R16 tires in front, 275/50R16’s in the rear and features period correct “quick jack” style bumpers and a single hoop roll bar.

“The selection of a Cobra for 2010 was an easy one based on the popularity of similar vehicles that were offered in 2005 and 2008” said the Center’s Director of Marketing & Development, Jon McKnight. “Cobras seem to be the ultimate aspirational vehicle for the broad spectrum of publics that we serve and with 400 HP at the rear wheels and a weight of 2800 lbs this car is bound to excite our winner”, said McKnight.

The annual raffle car program reflects IMRRC’s commitment to the collection, preservation and presentation of material related to the heritage of motorsport that includes an ever-increasing collection of books, photographs, films, videos, personal papers and other ephemera. Additionally, the raffle proceeds also constitute a sizeable portion of the Center’s annual operating budget.

Tickets for the Cobra are priced at $60 each, or two for $100, and can be ordered on-line at www.racingarchives.org, by telephone at 607.535.9044 or directly at the Center, 610 S. Decatur Street in the village of Watkins Glen. Tickets will also be available at the Center’s display at Watkins Glen International during major race weekends. Only 1800 tickets will be sold and the winning ticket will be drawn on Saturday, December 4th at 12 noon. Since IMRRC is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the purchase of raffle tickets is tax deductible to the extent allowed by the IRS codes. Individuals must be 18 or older to purchase a ticket. The winner is responsible for all taxes and fees associated with both wining and registering this vehicle, as well as the transportation from Watkins Glen within 30 days of being selected as the winner.

The Center would like to thank IMRRC volunteers Steve Stewart and Brian Fallon for their great work in cosmetically and mechanically detailing the Cobra. Their dedication and attention to detail will insure the winner a first class driving experience.
